*   DEFINITIONS:

"WAIST LEVEL":  is the level at which the top of the pants i.e. waistband level is worn or preferred for the type

of  garment specified. It is not necessarily the middle of the torso or the narrowest point if the wearer wishes

to have the top of the pants at a lower level. It is also worth indicating if the wearer wishes the pants to be

a bit higher at the back for any logistic reason eg extra warmth.

** ALSO NOTE: this "waist" level is very important for measurement No. 5 (Outseam)

"HIPS" means the widest part of the lower torso. It should generally go around the buttocks.

It does not mean the hip bones.

If the intended wearer has a large stomach protuberance - it is worth mentioning this as it is possible to

allow for this in pattern cutting.  In this case. it is also helpful to include a front-on and a side-on photo file.

"OUTSEAM" is a measurement from the defined "waist" level to the to the level at which the pants should end.

Do not measure to the floor unless the garment is to end at that level. Eg. for tights and XC pants the normal

length is to the bottom of the ankle bone.

"INSEAM" is a measurement from directly underneath/against the crotch (junction of legs and torso)

to the level at which the pants should end - this should be the same lower level as the Outseam.

"NECK TO SEAT" is primarily applicable to garments of an all-in-one construction.

Measure from top of prominent bone at back of neck to flat surface.
