About Us:
Kinetix Sports Clothing is owned and run by Margo and Graham Hinton. We are based in the "Old Bank" building,  Princes Hwy, Cobargo, NSW. Cobargo (400 K's south of Sydney) is a small country village where a number of business and craftsfolk produce all sorts of goods for sale including pottery, leather goods, artwork ... you name it someone is doing it around here and there are some good places to eat, as well.
We came to Cobargo in August 1994 after purchasing the historic NSW Bank building, which had been a Westpac branch. This sale was the result of yet another country town bank closure and the locals were not happy to lose their only bank.
We had wanted to get out of Sydney (all the pollution, traffic and burglaries etc) for some time but we had to wait until a suitable premises became available - the old bank seemed to be the one. Cobargo was a preferred destination as we already had family and friends in the area and the country around here is so picturesque. A little bit cold in winter (-5 deg) sometimes but all the fresh country air makes up for it.
Kinetix was started around 1975 by Margo (who had a background in clothing production, designing and patternmaking) - originally producing gymwear etc. After trying cross country skiing for the first time in 1981 (what lovely snow that year!) and deciding it was a great activity: it soon became obvious that cross country skiers were not well catered for in the clothing dept. Army woolens were itchy, heavy things and knickerbockers with tyrolean socks were just too daggy (apologies to those who still like them).  Soon, the Kinetix Volesse pants were born after a bit of fabric sourcing, designing and field testing and they worked very nicely.  Mike Edmondson, that visionary XC skiing master, saw them and thought it was worthwhile giving them a go in his Paddy Pallin shop at Jindabyne.  In 1992,  Graham joined the business to take care of the admin, sales and office stuff, so Margo could do the things she does best.
Well, it just went on from there and we're still making and selling lots of pants in 2001,  plus all sorts of other things as well. A few people have attempted to copy our pants but that's life. We did them first.
In the grounds of our property at Cobargo is a sizeable organic vegetable garden that we created, a reclaimed swampy area that is becoming a mini rainforest, two massive oak trees (they've been there forever), lots of wild birds, two spoilt cats, a resident family of Khaki Campbell ducks and 3 classic Leyland V8 P76 motor vehicles.
Our interests include (when we get time to pursue them): cross country skiing (if/when we can get away in winter and that's not easy!),  fishing (especially trout), water-skiing, hiking, gardening and making delicious things with the produce, computers, listening to music, creating and playing music on synthesizer keyboards. Of course, finding time for these activities can sometimes be tricky but if you don't do things other than work - you don't have much of a life.
We don't believe in being bored - there's too many things to do!
